Terms of Service

The plain-English version: read whatever you like here for free, don’t misuse the site, and know that SEO advice — free or paid — comes with no guaranteed rankings, because nobody honest can guarantee those. The details are below.

Effective date: August 27, 2026

The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and The SEO Savant, an SEO consultancy based in Phoenix, Arizona (“I,” “me”). By using theseosavant.com, you accept them. If you don’t accept them, the fix is simple: don’t use the site. If we enter a paid engagement together, that engagement will have its own written agreement, and where the two conflict, the engagement agreement wins.

What this site is

This site does two things. It publishes free articles — the Field Notes: case studies, teardowns, and playbooks about search and revenue — and it describes paid consulting work, primarily the Revenue Audit. The articles are free to read, ungated, and yours to learn from. The consulting is scoped, priced, and agreed to in writing before any work starts.

Free content is education, not advice

Everything published on this site is general education based on my experience — it is not professional advice tailored to your business, and reading it doesn’t create a consulting relationship between us. I write about what I’ve seen work and fail; whether any of it applies to your site depends on facts I don’t know. Teardowns analyze publicly visible websites and reflect my professional opinion of what I can see from the outside. Case studies describe real engagements with details anonymized; the numbers in them are specific to those businesses and are not a promise of what you’d get. If you act on something you read here, you’re acting on your own judgment.

No ranking guarantees — from me or anyone

Search engines are owned and operated by companies that aren’t me. I do not and cannot guarantee rankings, traffic, leads, or revenue, and these terms are where I say plainly what the rest of the site keeps saying: anyone who does guarantee those things is lying to you. What I offer — free and paid — is diagnosis, prioritization, and work aimed at revenue. Results depend on your market, your competitors, your follow-through, and decisions Google makes that neither of us controls.

Paid engagements

The specifics of any paid work — scope, deliverables, timeline, fees, payment terms, and refunds — live in the written agreement for that engagement, not on this page. A few things are true of every engagement, though:

  • You own your stuff. Your website, your data, your accounts, and the information you share with me remain yours.
  • You own the deliverables. When an engagement is paid for, the reports and recommendations I produce for you are yours to use however you like.
  • I keep my methods. The frameworks, processes, and know-how I use to produce the work remain mine, and I’m free to use them for other clients.
  • Honesty runs both ways. My work is only as good as the access and information you give me. Incomplete analytics access means incomplete findings.

Using the site

Read it, link to it, quote it with attribution, share it with anyone it would help. What you may not do: republish articles wholesale as your own, scrape the site to resell its content, use the contact forms to send spam or pitch me guest posts, attempt to break or probe the site’s security, or impersonate The SEO Savant. The content here is protected by copyright; quoting a passage with a link is welcome, lifting whole pages is not.

Third-party links

Articles sometimes link to other websites and tools. Those links are references, not endorsements, and I’m not responsible for what third-party sites do, charge, or claim — including how they handle your data once you’re on them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the site and its free content are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and I’m not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its free content — including lost rankings, lost traffic, or lost revenue. For paid engagements, liability terms are set in the engagement agreement; as a default, my total liability is capped at the fees you actually paid me for the work in question. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Privacy

How I handle your information has its own page: the Privacy Policy. The short version is that I collect the minimum, sell nothing, and answer questions about it personally.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute that can’t be resolved by two adults talking it through will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona. But before it comes to that: write to me first. Most disagreements are solved by a conversation, and I’d rather have the conversation.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, I’ll update this page and change the effective date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. I won’t bury anything important in the fine print — the whole point of this page is that it doesn’t read like fine print.

Questions?

If anything here is unclear, ask through the contact page. You’ll get an answer from a person, not a policy.
