A lead is not the finish line. A booked job is.
Your funnel is everything between “I need this service” and “the job is on the calendar.” I map the steps, the delays and the exits, then rebuild the path around how customers actually buy.

A sales funnel is a customer journey, not a string of popups.
The handoff is where the money disappears.
The ad says emergency repair. The page says “welcome to our company.” The form asks for eleven details. The email lands in an inbox no one owns. Every individual step seems small. Together, they lose the sale.
What I actually check.
No mystery packages. The diagnosis determines which of these steps matters most.
Map intent
Identify the searches, referrals and questions that bring buyers to each service.
Build the route
One clear next step per stage, with useful answers before the ask.
Own the handoff
Track who receives the enquiry, how fast it is answered and where it gets lost.
Tie it to revenue
Report on booked work by source, page and location where those records exist.
A #1 ranking. A nineteen-hour response. A lost opportunity.
the first observed response time in a published plaintiff-law public teardown.
Good funnels remove decisions. They do not manufacture pressure.
I would rather make the right action obvious than add five urgency timers. For most home-service businesses, a homeowner with no air conditioning does not want a seven-email nurture sequence. They want to know whether you serve their neighborhood and whether someone will answer the phone.
A funnel has to respect the buying situation. Emergency repair, planned remodeling and expensive B2B services need different paths. I design for the decision being made, then check whether that path ends in paid work.
Rankings are vanity. Revenue is sanity.
Thirty years of watching searches turn into business—or not.
Since 1996 I have worked across search, agencies and national service networks, including SEO management for the Chrysler dealer network and ACE Handyman Services, as described on the site. That experience exposed me to different buying cycles, locations and kinds of enquiries.
The published HVAC engagement is especially instructive: form-fill dashboards missed the phone calls that started most booked jobs. The public legal teardown shows another failure at the next step: a strong ranking that could not overcome the time it took to answer a prospective client.

The law firm that answered 19 hours too late
A #1 search position had no chance against an unattended intake process.
The booked jobs the dashboard never counted
The real customer journey ran through phone calls; the reporting had been built around forms.
The ad worked. The landing page lost the buyer.
An emergency service page made buyers wait and complete eleven fields before they could reach anyone.
The pricing page buyers were looking for
Price questions are part of search intent, and useful answers can move a buyer closer to enquiry.

Is a funnel just a landing page?
No. The page is one stop. The funnel also includes the promise made in search or ads, the call or form, the response process, follow-up and what becomes a paid job.
Can this work without paid advertising?
Yes. The same path applies to organic search, referrals, local maps and AI-discovered traffic. Paid ads only make a broken handoff more expensive.
Do you include CRM and follow-up?
I examine the handoff and recommend tracking, routing or follow-up changes when they are necessary. Specific platform integrations and automation are scoped after the diagnosis.
How many steps should a funnel have?
As few as a buyer needs. Emergency home services often need a visible phone call. A high-consideration service may need proof, pricing context and a consultation.
Can you tell which lead sources actually book jobs?
If call, form and booking data can be connected, yes. Where data is missing, establishing that baseline is an early part of the work.
What comes first: funnels or SEO?
Whichever is currently limiting revenue. The Revenue Audit determines the order rather than selling either as a preselected package.
Find the leak.
Keep the revenue.
You do not need to know which service to buy. That is the point of the diagnosis. Start free, then decide what to do with the answer.
No call · No card · No pre-selected package
First I look at the site. Then I tell you what matters. Then you decide who fixes it.
